People behind Inter-Silo have worked with installation of grain storage facilities for many seasons, firstly in Denmark, and later in many other European countries.
During this period, the popularity of drying silos has grown rapidly. Hundreds of Danish farmers (large as well as small) now store their grain at home, and thereby save the time and money from bringing their crops to grain terminals or being forced to sell at low price during harvest.
With references from facilities of all sizes around Europe, Inter-Silo has the widest possible experience and has seen the abundant benefits of modern agriculture all over. From just being a service provider, Inter-Silo has now set focus on introducing the benefits of different grain handling to farmers. Since 2014 winter Inter-Silo became the official reseller of grain storage and drying equipment american producer Sukup in Lithuania.
With the deep insight into silo projects, Inter-Silo can provide turnkey solutions and will assist the farmer during every single step of the project. The system makes the farmer's daily life easier both during and after the harvest. He can bring his grain directly to the storage and dry his crops inside it - almost from the first moment. Depending on the type of the farm, the grain can be dried and later used for animal feed - or it can be kept until the price is right and the farmer can sell with the highest profit.
Inter-Silo installed 1275 silos all over Europe.
In 2012, the first tower dryer was installed in Denmark. Since then few more have been assembled - all by Inter-Silo.
About 95 % of the silos that Inter-Silo install have a stirring-system, so the farmer can dry his grain inside.
The average construction time for a silo with 1000 tons capacity is one week. Such silo consist of more than 27.000 parts.
In 2012 Inter-Silo built the biggest silo in Denmark with the capacity of 8000 tons and in 2014 at the same location has installed another two silos 8000 tons each and total storage capacity was increased up to 24000 tons.
In 2018 Inter-Silo built 3 grain storage silos with the capacity of 12500 tons each, total of 37500 tons.
I started in this business almost 20 seasons ago and have thereby been able to follow the rapid development of an interesting market. In 2000, the very first American silos were imported and built in Denmark. I was a freelance fitter on the installation team building one of these silos and at that time I had no idea of the true impact that the product would have on Danish and later European agriculture.
Since then it has been an amazing experience to see how farmers all over Northern Europe have adopted the drying silo. Traditionally and very similarly to the situation today in Baltic countries, a Danish farmer used to be forced to sell the grain at low price during the harvest, or to transport his grain to drying terminals where they could dry it at a significant cost.
Today there are thousands of silos in Denmark. Most of them hold between 500 and 1,000 tons of grain, as this is the optimal silo size for grain drying. On large farms we usually install several silos and a mobile dryer, as the ability to separate different crops can also be a concern.
From just being a service provider on the "European Grain Scene" Inter-Silo is now also a well-known actor among farmers and grain cooperates. Here we have presented our extensive program of products and can see we cover a wide area of needs such as basic grain storage with cooling or transport systems, but especially our drying silos with stirring systems have been very positively received.
